One thing this expedition has taught me already is how little I actually know about modern Africa. Most of my impressions of various countries are rooted in news stories from my childhood and don’t reflect the current reality. On this page I hope to share some of the ‘new’ (to me) things that I glean during my travels.

The sheer enormity of the trip we are about to undertake is starting to take hold. I have been fortunate enough to travel extensively, across parts of Europe, across some of the United States and even a little in Asia but Africa swamps  all of that in sheer size.
